Today Lady Gaga, Glinda, and I were taking our daily walk. I decided to drive to a local park near by my dad’s house just to change things up. As we were walking the hiking trail, I saw a little figure walk across an empty field of grass. At first I thought it was a goat due to its shape, but then as I kept looking at the animal, it turned out to be a malnourished dog. I was very skeptical at first to approach the dog because she looked like a Rottweiler. The dog looked desperate for food, so I took a big risk and approached the animal. I usually would not do this, but since I had no cell phone on me to call ASPCA, I felt I had no choice. Picking up both Lady Gaga and Glinda I walked toward the dog. When she was about five feet away from me I stood with one dog in each arm waiting for her to approach me. She did. I noticed she had given birth and her hip bones, rips were exposed. As she smelled me, I placed my dogs down and they began smelling each other. I was really lucky that this dog was not aggressive. Since she had a collar I knew she belonged to someone, but who? Who would leave their dog in the middle or nowhere with no food or water? My heart literally sank, so I leashed her with Lady Gaga’s leash and took her home. At home I fed her puppy food because she really needed nutrients. I didn’t feed her too much because I did not know what condition she was in. Within the hour she threw up the food she consumed, which meant she was really sick. I called the local law enforcement who gave me the location of the nearest ASPCA. I told them I had found her in a field and thankfully they took her in.
Here are pictures of the Doberman Pinscher we found:
I watch cases like this on Animal Planet or Nat Geo, but I never thought I would personally meet a dog who was so mistreated. This really upsets me because these animals have no voices and they count on us to survive.
